Bears, Turkeys, and Deer OH MY!
Newly renovated for 2021! This cabin still has all the wonderful things many guests have fallen in love with, from the gorgeous stone wood burning fireplace in the main room, King sized beds, 4 flat screen TV’s, outdoor hot tub, to a wraparound porch with rocking chairs and a picnic table with benches, just to name the highlights! New for this year are granite kitchen countertops, and completely renovated bathrooms! Also new is a fully enclosed bathroom in the loft. Sorry to anyone who liked the heart tub, but due to guest feedback (Yes, we do welcome feedback! J) we have taken out the heart tub and fully enclosed a whole new full bathroom, with shower/tub, large vanity with granite countertop, etc. Probably the biggest change returning guests will notice, along with new guests, is a whole new upper and lower deck, with a new hot tub on the lower deck, and a new roof! The pool table has been replaced with a large air hockey table. These are just some of the bigger renovations that we hope will make your stay even more enjoyable and relaxing!
The layout is almost the same, with the gorgeous, wood burning, stone fireplace catching your eye as you enter. The living area also has a 50-inch flat screen TV with Charter cable service that includes WIFI, and a DVD player. An enclosed bedroom with a king-sized bed, including a flat screen TV, and full bathroom is on this level. Hair dryer has been added to cabinet for your convenience. This level also has a porch that wraps half way around the house with a new hot tub, 3 rocking chairs, and a picnic table with benches. There are also small fold out tables for a drink while you are enjoying the hot tub.
The top level of the cabin is an open loft with a catwalk to the upstairs balcony where there is an awesome mountain view and comfortable chaise lounger and rocking chair to sit and drink your morning cup of coffee. The loft has a king-sized bed, flat screen TV, and a brand new full bathroom with a shower tub combo. Also added is a full length mirror, just outside the bathroom door.
We continue to add on to our “experience” element! We firmly believe that “Great memories are made from great experiences shared.” What better way to share great experiences together, than with some of the most popular animals in the Smokies; bears, turkeys, and deer! Oh my! This is a cabin that has games and activities for all ages, centered around these 3 popular animals. From a giant game of “bears, turkeys, and deer” memory game, that will cover the basement floor, to matching different Smoky Mountain animal pictures to their prints, to helping get your hiker to the top of Mt. LeConte, the fastest, while avoiding some mountain challenges, a great time is sure to be had for all ages. As you walk down the basement steps, you will now see some barrel chairs with a table set up for checkers, or cards. To the left, you will see a shelf unit full of games for teens on up through adults (all kid appropriate games, as most are “get together games”, trivia, or plenty of decks of cards.) There is a TV with a DVD player, and a pile of kids movies centered around bears, turkeys, & deer. We will continue to add to try to accommodate all ages, but feel free to bring your own as well. New two years ago a twin size bunk bed over a full-size bunk was added, along with a new futon for additional sleeping. Next to the bunk beds, hung on hooks now, are different puzzles, trivia, word searches, etc., for the teen, tween, or adult. The owner plans on periodically having some interactive challenges to this for those who desire to, hence the mailboxes in the basement bathroom! Now there is a little corner with a toddler couch & book rack with TONS of books about bears, turkeys, deer, the Smoky Mountains, etc. These books start with toddler, but go up to teen, in their level of reading. There is also a shelf FULL of games for little ones on up to teens, and you won’t miss the air hockey table in the center! Also, in the basement is a half bathroom with a washer and dryer in it. We are a cabin that “decorates for Christmas”. As part of our “experience” element, we will continue the Christmas tree ornaments that we started two years ago. Each set of guests will be allowed to choose up to 7 wood ornaments to paint, free of charge, (up to 6 as that is the max guest allowance for the cabin, plus 1 extra) from Thanksgiving to Christmas. We started off doing 2, one for you to take home for your tree, and one for you to leave for the tree at the cabin, but everyone is welcome to paint one, as long as we can remain courteous and clean up our paint mess, as our housekeepers work extremely hard as is. J You will put a family name, or your name, and the year, and can come back year after year to see it, and remember the memories made during your stay!
A couple things to note……
-This is a “NO PET” of any kind cabin, and if caught bringing one in, you will be asked to leave the premises immediately, without a refund, and possibly charged a pet cleaning fee. The owner has family with severe asthma & allergies, therefore also wanting to provide a place as allergy friendly as possible for guests in similar situations. We cannot claim to be allergen free, as we are in the woods, and we all carry in different things with us, however, all pillows and mattresses are completely encased in Allerease encasements, and there are no pets allowed.
-We have replaced all of the solar lights coming down the long, narrow driveway, and you are welcome to park in the driveway, as it takes you right to the front steps of the cabin. We do however, suggest parking on the cul de sac in front of the cabin, as an option, as there is plenty of room (just don’t block side street going down) as many guests don’t realize how narrow the driveway is. You are welcome to do either though.
- This property is under 24 hour exterior security video/audio surveillance. If you have any questions about this, you can get further explanation from the notebook in the main living area, there for your convenience, or by calling or texting the owner, whose number is also listed.
- This notebook also contains information about where the nearest places are, hints about navigating the park during its busy season, finding animals, trails, etc. and you can always contact the owners with questions regarding any of these.
We truly want you to have great memories from great experiences shared at “Bears, Turkeys, and Deer….Oh My!”
