Some of the best restaurants in the Smoky Mountains are not the big, popular spots along the Parkway; in fact, you can find dozens of unique and quaint mom-and-pop restaurants that are well-loved by the locals. So if you want to try something different on your next trip to the Smokies, here are some of our favorite places to eat in Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, and Gatlinburg that are off the beaten path!
Restaurants Off The Beaten Path in Sevierville
English Mountain Trout Farm & Grill– On the way to Forbidden Caverns, you’ll find this picturesque family-owned and operated trout farm where “you hook ‘em and we cook ‘em”! If you don’t have time to catch your own trout, you can simply eat at their restaurant like normal, but catching a fish you’ll then eat is a fun and interactive experience the whole family will love! While your fish is cooking, the kids can go gem mining, another fun activity offered there.
Tony Gore's Smoky Mountain BBQ & Grill– You’ve probably driven right past this BBQ restaurant without even realizing it. Located on Winnfield Dunn Parkway on your way to Pigeon Forge, this hotspot for Southern Gospel music and Tennessee BBQ features house-smoked ribs, brisket, pulled pork, and more. Their fried green tomatoes are also a hit!
Graze Burgers– If you’re visiting downtown Sevierville to see the Dolly Parton statue, head over to Graze Burgers for a delicious 100% natural burger! In addition to thick and juicy burgers, their menu includes big hot dogs, chicken wings, soups, salads, and starters. We recommend the fried pickles or fried mushrooms. Also, their gourmet shakes and house made pies are incredible, so definitely save room for something sweet!
Restaurants Off The Beaten Path in Pigeon Forge
Lil Black Bear Cafe– You can find this little restaurant behind the Parkway on Veterans Boulevard– it’s one of the best restaurants in the Smoky Mountains because of their friendly service, kid-friendly atmosphere, and simple eats.
Smokies Cuban Cafe– Even though this local restaurant is located on the Parkway, it’s tucked away so you might not have heard of it before! Perfect for a quick lunch in between activities, their Cuban sandwich is simple and delicious– ham, pork, Swiss cheese, mustard, and pickles toasted on homemade bread.
Boss Hogg’s BBQ Shack– Along Wears Valley Road, this BBQ restaurant in Pigeon Forge is a must for all barbeque lovers! You can enjoy delicious house-smoked meats and sides, from ribs and brisket to chicken and sliced sausage. Their collard greens and baked beans are top-notch!
Restaurants Off The Beaten Path in Gatlinburg
New Orleans Sandwich Company– Authentic Cajun food in Gatlinburg? That’s right! This tiny shop located in Baskins Square serves incredible po boys, jambalaya, red beans and rice, muffuletta, and more!
Red Oak Bistro– Make your date night special at this restaurant on Glades Road. The menu is made up of shared plates curated by the husband and wife chef duo, and you can pair your meal with your favorite wine, bourbon, or beer for the ultimate dining experience. Reservations are highly recommended.
The Greenbrier– Another spot for fine dining, this is one of the best restaurants in the Smoky Mountains for a special occasion. The cozy lodge setting, chef-driven menu, handcrafted cocktails, and extensive wine and bourbon menu make it a great place to eat with your partner, family, and friends.
Split Rail Eats– One of our favorite places to eat in the Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Community, you can enjoy lunch and dinner Tuesday through Saturday and brunch on Sunday. Their beer wall features 16 different beers and ciders, many of which are from local breweries in the Smokies!
