The biggest attraction in Pigeon Forge, TN just received a huge honor! TripAdvisor recently released its annual list of the best theme parks in the world, and we’re excited to announce that Dollywood was included in the ranking. In order to compile the list, TripAdvisor analyzed millions of user reviews from theme parks all around the globe.
Based on the quality and quantity of reviews on the TripAdvisor website, Dollywood had the 16th best overall rating of all the theme parks on the planet and the 12th best score for parks in the United States. TripAdvisor also ranked Dollywood’s Splash Country as the 12th best water park in the U.S. as part of a separate list.
To help you prepare for your next trip to Dollywood, Heritage Cabin Rentals has put together a guide to the newest additions to the theme park.
New Free-Fall Tower: Drop Line
For the 2017 season, Dollywood added a brand new ride unlike anything else in the theme park. Drop Line is a 230-foot tall free-fall tower that has been generating a ton of positive buzz since it premiered this spring. Situated across from Lumber Jack’s Pizza in the Timber Canyon area of the park, Drop Line is a can’t-miss stop for the adrenaline junkie in your family.
When you ride Drop Line, you’ll enjoy a slow climb to the top of a 20-story tower. The attraction’s 24-seat rotating gondola provides breathtaking views of the park and the Great Smoky Mountains. Don’t get too comfortable admiring the scenery, however, because the real fun is just about to begin! Once you reach the top of the tower, your gondola will suddenly rush downward at 77 miles-per-hour before the brakes are applied. The thrilling free-fall only lasts for a few seconds, but you’ll still be talking about your experience weeks after riding Drop Line!

New Junior Coaster: Whistle Punk Chaser
In addition to Drop Line, Dollywood also introduced a new junior coaster: Whistle Punk Chaser. Named after a type of lumberjack that operated a steam whistle during the logging process, this coaster is aimed at guests who aren’t tall enough to ride the theme park’s famous Thunderhead wooden roller coaster.
Whistle Punk Chaser is filled with plenty of twists and turns that young passengers are sure to enjoy. The coaster is open to guests who are at least 36” tall. Kids who are under 42” tall must be accompanied by an adult who is at least 16 years old.
