To help you make the most of your next vacation, Heritage Cabin Rentals has put together a guide to five places where you’ll find the best views in Pigeon Forge and the Smoky Mountains.
1. The Great Smoky Mountain Wheel at The Island
Located at The Island shopping and entertainment complex off of the Parkway, the Great Smoky Mountain Wheel has quickly become one of Pigeon Forge’s iconic landmarks. At 200 feet tall, this enormous Ferris wheel provides stunning views of the city of Pigeon Forge and the national park. The Great Smoky Mountain Wheel features climate controlled all-glass gondolas that can seat up to eight guests. If you are on a romantic getaway with your sweetheart, we suggest visiting the Ferris Wheel at night so you can see Pigeon Forge’s twinkling lights from high in the sky.
2. Clingmans Dome
Although it is about an hour away from Pigeon Forge, Clingmans Dome is definitely worth the drive! Standing at 6,643 feet tall, Clingmans Dome is the highest point in the state of Tennessee and the highest point along the entire Appalachian Trail. When you visit this famous observation tower, you will enjoy unparalleled vistas of the Great Smoky Mountains. On a clear day, the views can extend for over 100 miles.
To reach the observation tower, visitors must complete a half-mile hike up a paved walkway that is quite steep. Be sure to dress warmly if you stop by Clingmans Dome (even in the summer) because the observation tower is often 10 – 20 degrees colder than the lower elevations of the mountains.
3. Bluff Mountain Adventures ATV Rides
The ATV rides at Bluff Mountain Adventures also offer some of the very best views in Pigeon Forge. When you hit the trail with Bluff Mountain, you will explore 6,000 acres of pristine wilderness in the foothills of the Smokies. During your adventure, an experienced guide will tell you all about the beautiful views you are admiring.
4. Smoky Mountain Ziplines
For more exhilarating fun and gorgeous views, vacationers can take a canopy tour with Smoky Mountain Ziplines. Situated less than 2 miles away from the Parkway, Smoky Mountain Ziplines features seven different thrilling lines for guests to enjoy. From 150 feet in the air, zipliners will be able to take in spectacular views of the mountains and the forest.
5. Newfound Gap Road
Newfound Gap Road is one of America’s most scenic drives! Stretching from Sevier County, TN all the way to Cherokee, NC, this hugely popular road cuts through the heart of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. As you make your way along Newfound Gap Road, you will pass incredible mountain views and an amazing variety of forest ecosystems. The road to Clingmans Dome is located off of Newfound Gap Road so you can easily visit both destinations in one trip.
